Mountain Bikes are generally used for any type of off-road use. Whilst they can be ridden on asphalt roads, they perform best on any surface other than asphalt. Gravel bike paths, unsealed roads, grass fields and bush trails are ideal.
There are two main categories of mountain bikes enabling the rider to select a bike suitable for their needs.
Hardtail Cross Country: These bikes are suitable for general path riding. These bikes are easier to maintain and have a front suspension fork for better steering control and comfort. It is the most cost effective way to enter the mountain bike world.
Dual Suspension: These bikes have front and rear wheel suspension which greatly enhances the traction and comfort level of the bike. These bikes are suitable for the entry level mountain bike rider to the serious enthusiast.
